Boston – Feb. 27, 2023 – VHS Learning has opened registration for its summer 2023 courses and introduced more flexible options to fit students’ schedules. The traditional summer program begins June 14 and offers 25 online high school courses for credit recovery and enrichment that are eight weeks or four weeks long. Eight-week courses begin on June 14. Four-week courses are offered in two sessions beginning June 14 and July 17, respectively. New this year are flexibly paced and credit recovery courses that offer rolling admission and will open for registration in May.

VHS Learning courses are instructor-led and include NCAA-approved options. The summer program offers core math, science, social science, history, and English courses as well as a variety of electives for enrichment such as Chinese language and culture, cryptography, personal finance, and personal fitness. Students in grades 9-12 can enroll in the summer courses.

“The 2022 Nation’s Report Card showed an increased need to bolster student learning, and VHS Learning’s summer courses are an excellent option for academic recovery,” said President & CEO of VHS Learning, Carol DeFuria. “Our summer core courses help students recover credits they need to graduate, and many students also enroll in our unique summer electives to discover a subject that interests and prepare for their next academic year.”

For more than 27 years, VHS Learning has earned a reputation for educational quality, providing a best-in-class professional development program for the certified teachers who provide summer course instruction. All VHS Learning teachers complete graduate-level Online Teaching Methodologies (OTM) training to learn best practices for online teaching and learning, and 81% of VHS Learning teachers possess a master’s degree or higher.

VHS Learning course design and delivery standards were the model used by the National Education Association when they created the first standards for online learning. In 2019, in collaboration with the international nonprofit Quality Matters, VHS Learning helped update the National Standards for Quality (NSQ) in three areas: Online Courses, Online Teaching, and Online Programs.

“We are dedicated to supporting students and educators with high-quality high school courses and exceptional professional development,” DeFuria continued. “We’re looking forward to once again providing students everywhere with the flexible instruction and support they need to stay on track and get ahead.”
