VHS Learning Digital Accessibility Statement
Our Commitment
VHS Learning is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible learning environment that ensures students, educators, and stakeholders with disabilities have an equal opportunity to participate in our programs. In accordance with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, we design, develop, and maintain our digital content to be accessible to the widest possible audience.
Conformance Standard
VHS Learning mandates that all new and existing web content, mobile applications, and digital platforms conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. We are currently transitioning our internal auditing processes to align with WCAG 2.2 to stay ahead of evolving accessibility needs.
Integrated Platform Accountability
While we leverage industry-leading partners, VHS Learning maintains ultimate responsibility for the accessibility of the student experience. We actively monitor and review the Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) and conformance reports of our partners to ensure a seamless experience:
- D2L Brightspace: Accessibility Overview | VPAT & Conformance Reports
- Agilix Buzz: Accessibility Overview | VPAT Document
Our LMS environments are audited for compatibility with screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, and high-contrast modes.
- Third-Party Tools: We collaborate with providers like ReadSpeaker, VitalSource, and Turnitin to ensure their integrations do not create barriers within the learning workflow.
Remediation of Legacy & Active Content
VHS Learning distinguishes between archived content and active instructional materials:
- Active Courses: Any legacy course currently available for enrollment is undergoing prioritized remediation. We are committed to completing the remediation of all active content by Spring 2027.
- Archived Content: Content that is maintained for historical record-keeping and not used for current instruction may not be fully remediated but is available in alternate formats upon request.
Equally Effective Alternate Access (EEAA)
If a specific digital element (such as a complex map or interactive simulation) cannot be made fully accessible due to technical limitations, VHS Learning will provide Equally Effective Alternate Access.
Our Promise: We will provide requested alternate formats in a timely manner—typically within 5 business days—to ensure students can maintain their pace of study alongside their peers.
Accessible Procurement
Accessibility is a core requirement in our procurement process. VHS Learning evaluates all new third-party vendors and digital tools for WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA compliance before integration into our ecosystem.
Assistive Technology & Technical Support
While users are responsible for their personal assistive devices (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, or Braille displays), VHS Learning provides technical support to ensure our platforms remain compatible with these technologies. We will not charge a fee for the provision of accessible materials or accommodations.
