Congratulations to the 2025 VHS Learning Scholarship Winners!

Each year, we present graduating high school seniors with an opportunity to earn college scholarships through the annual VHS Learning Scholarship Program. To enter the contest, students are asked to thoughtfully respond to the prompt: “Why did you take your VHS Learning course and what did you learn from the experience?”

In our 16th year presenting the program, 70 students from across the globe submitted videos for consideration. After reviewing each entry, the scholarship committee selected 10 inspiring scholarship recipients. Winning students were awarded a total of $4,000 in scholarships: one $1,000 scholarship, three $500 scholarships, and six $250 scholarships.

All of the students who submitted an entry to the scholarship program presented unique perspectives that reflected creativity, resilience, and a deep appreciation for how online learning helped shape their futures. Each of our scholarship winners were selected for their thoughtful and engaging submissions, which presented positive impacts from their online learning experiences.

Here are just a few of the inspiring stories from the 2025 VHS Learning Scholarship Program:

Amelia Corbin: A Future in Political Science and Law

Amelia Corbin from Nipmuc Regional High School in Massachusetts is the 2025 recipient of our $1,000 college scholarship award. Amelia’s VHS Learning journey began when her school didnt offer AP® Environmental Science, a course she was eager to take.

At first, she was uncertain about how an online course would handle labs but quickly discovered that VHS Learning provided everything she needed for hands-on experimentation at home. She enjoyed how the platform made the course engaging and interactive, becoming a highlight of her educational experience.

The positive experience led her to enroll in VHS Learning’s AP® United States Government and Politics the following year, where she discovered a passion for civic engagement. This course not only deepened her understanding of the role of government but also strengthened her desire to pursue a career in law and public service.

“Learning how these systems work has fueled my passion for political science and inspired me to pursue a career where I can make a positive difference,” she shared in her video. Amelia will begin studying political science on a pre-law track at Clark University in Massachusetts this fall. Watch Amelia's video here.

Hajar Abouyoussef: A Future in Molecular Biology

Hajar Abouyoussef from South Shore Charter Public School in Massachusetts is one of three students awarded a $500 college scholarship. After working as a research assistant in a synthetic biology lab in the summer of 2024, Hajar uncovered a passion for cell and molecular biology. But when her school didnt offer AP® Chemistry or AP® Computer Science A, she turned to VHS Learning to bridge the gap.

When she was deciding where to take her online AP® courses, Hajar was drawn to VHS Learning because it allowed her to deeply engage with the materials instead of just memorizing information. She felt that this more comprehensive approach would help her build a strong foundation for college and beyond.

“I loved how they were very project-based, just like the lab environment I loved,” Hajar said in her video. “Whether it is running an experiment, writing code, or solving problems, VHS Learning allows me to engage deeply with the materials instead of just memorizing.” Watch Hajar's video here.

Our Other $500 Scholarship Winners

Myles Seckler from RW Traip Academy in Maine took AP® Computer Science A and Geometry to help build a stronger foundation before studying mechanical engineering in college. Watch Myles' video here.

Vera Medvedeva from Millis High School in Massachusetts took a range of challenging STEM courses to start working towards college credit, including AP® Physics 1, AP® Precalculus, AP® Physics C, and AP® Statistics. Watch Vera’s video here.

Adam Alauddin: Overcoming Adversity with Online Learning

One of our six $250 scholarship winners, Adam Alauddin, graduated from VHS Learning Academy (formerly Massachusetts Mayflower Academy) after relocating from Saudi Arabia to Kuwait. Due to his need for renal dialysis three times a week, local schools couldnt accommodate his irregular attendance––but VHS Learning Academy offered a more flexible schedule. Adam completed grades 11 and 12 online, taking a dozen courses, including The Human Body, to better understand and manage his own health.

“I want to get a better understanding of my body so I can take care of it better,” he shared in his video. After he graduates high school, Adam intends to pursue a business degree, and has his sights set on returning to his home country, Malaysia. Watch Adam’s video here.
